Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 36 and Luke 9.
In Luke 9, Jesus has asked his disciples, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” The answers varied. “But who do you say that I am?” He has followed that question up with the revelation that he is going to be killed and on the third day, raised. He has said to them all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” And then, he warns them about being ashamed.
“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” (Luke 9:26)
Don’t be ashamed today.
Don’t be ashamed of Jesus; there is salvation no one else (Acts 4:12).
Don’t be ashamed of his words; they are the words of eternal life (John 6:68).
Don’t be ashamed of the gospel; it’s the power of God for salvation (Rom 1:16).
Don’t be ashamed of his death; he gave himself to redeem and purify you (Titus 2:14).
Don’t be ashamed of his resurrection; it’s the definitive proof of the coming resurrection of all the dead (1 Cor 15:12).
Don’t be ashamed of the Lord’s church; she will be presented as a bride to her husband in splendor (Eph 5:27).
Don’t be ashamed to seek forgiveness; the one who humbles himself or herself will be exalted (James 4:7-10).
Don’t be ashamed of holiness; without it, you can’t have a relationship with your Creator (Heb 12:14).
Don’t be ashamed that you’re different; our heavenly Father is glorified when his sons and daughters stand out as distinct from the world (Matt 5:13-16).
Don’t be ashamed to share that Jesus is coming again; each and every one of us will give an account of ourselves to God (Rom 14:12).
